Johnna Wright is proud to have been a driving force behind the development and premiere of new Canadian scripts for nine years with Solo Collective Theatre. She had the opportunity to develop skills in budget management, long-range planning and strategy, marketing, publicity, graphic design, web design, administration, fundraising, grant writing, contract negotiation, and many other more mundane tasks.
Solo Collective is part of the See Seven subscription package for independent theatre, a shared marketing initiative that brings some of Vancouver's finest independent theatres together to create a season of diverse, original and challenging work. Participating groups share resources and information, and work together to raise the profile of Vancouver's theatre scene. See Seven is widely recognized as one of the fastest-growing subscription packages in Canada, and its organizers have been invited to advise on similar projects as far afield as Montreal and Los Angeles.
Before working with Solo Collective, Johnna was a co-founder of the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare festival, now one of the most popular theatre festivals in Canada, and helped to produce its inaugural production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1990 (as well as appearing onstage).
Johnna is currently "on hiatus" from producing theatre as she pursues her freelance career. |
